You also receive any possible add-ons at no additional cost. These include a stove jack, windows, bug mesh, storm doors, and a free-floating floor.

When thinking about maintenance for your wall tent, some basic pointers are:
- Never store your wall tent when it's wet or damp, as this can lead to the formation of mold or mildew
- Regularly clear it of dirt and debris
- Brush snow off the roof of your tent and don't let it accumulate for too long. You can also invest in an additional pair of snow load poles
- Don't pitch the tent under direct sunlight
- Use a rain fly over the roof of your wall tent, if possible

- We have a dual grounding system, which makes the tent setup a lot sturdier
- We use the same 10.10 oz canvas for the entire tent build. Other tents use a lighter canvas for the tent walls (8.5 oz vs. 10.10 oz)
- The Prota Cabin Tent is often more competitively priced

Family Explorer Tents FAQs
There are two windows (one front, and one back) and two doors (one front, one back) in Deluxe model, whereas, the Deluxe prime model has four windows (one front, one back and two on both sides) and two doors. Apart from extra windows, there not much of a difference between the two tents. If you can afford the deluxe prime version then go for the full features i.e. more roomy, better ventilation. If you are on a budget, the deluxe models are a great value.
Our Family Explorer tent is made up of a heavier and higher quality canvas, we have tested our cotton canvas fabric at an independent textile lab and it turned out to be 15% stronger than the canvas fabric used by our competitors. We use our premium cotton canvas fabric not only for the tent but also for the loops that attach the organizer inside the tent, minimizing risk of water penetration. However our competitors use polyester/ nylon webbing which is not as water resistant. Unlike our competitors, we have used 10.10 oz. fabric on walls (same as tent fabric) instead of the eight and 1/2 ounce which makes our tent a beast; sturdy and more durable. A distinctive feature of our family explorer tent is the silver-coated 10 oz. canvas roof which blocks sun and is heat resistant and has superior water, mildew and heat resistance. It makes the inside temperature much cooler in hot summer days and won’t blind you in the morning looking up at roof laying on your back. Our competitors are using a standard canvas ceiling fabric. We use top rated waterproof YKK zippers not only on doors but also on windows to ensure maximum durability and functionality. Our competitors only use them on doors.
It will do better than any other type of tent. It will be as dust proof as you keep it. Just keep in mind that there should be no open flame, in or near the tent.
Canvas tents last longer than synthetic tents, depending upon your use and environment. They should be properly maintained to avoid mold, rust or rot.
Our Family Explorer tent is made up of a heavier and higher quality canvas, we have tested our canvas fabric at an independent textile lab and it turned out to be 15% stronger than the canvas fabric used by our competitors.
You have to put in all the stakes, make sure to unzip the doors and windows. After assembling the poles on top and putting the stakes in, try to lift the top a little to get air inside the tent before installing the side poles. This should reduce the vacuum you experience when raising it up.
It has a bathtub style groundsheet that stops the rain water from penetrating inside the flooring. The bathtub style comes in handy if there is a puddle outside, ensuring no penetration from the groundsheet. Our competitors use a sewn-in groundsheet, this is great for normal conditions, and however, in rain it poses a risk of water penetrating the inside of the tent. It is a completely closed unit.
Stake loops are made up of heavy duty bungee cord and are reinforced.
Headroom height of family explorer is 6.5 ft. which is all around.
Our Family Explorer tents do not have flame retardant finish. They only come with Water Repellent option.
During heavy rain, we highly recommend a fly of some sort, this keeps the damaging rays of the sun from degrading the canvas. Also useful for helping snow to slide off better in the winter and by trapping a layer of air between the fly and canvas top helps insulate the tent in cold weather. Unfortunately, we do not supply fly with our Family Explorer tent range.
Our family explorer tents do not have stock jack installed, but it has large doors and windows which could be used to ventilate the smoke.
If your trip is short; 1-3 days and want an easy quick to setup tent, you should consider our Bell tents and Family explorer cabin tents. If you are going to camp for extended periods of time, you should consider our wall tents. The wall tents take more time to erect, are a little bulkier to store, and require two people to set up. Once up, they are roomier because of the steep sidewalls and tall ceilings and offer some added comforts like adding up the porch in front of your tent for added space.
We do not put a stove Jack in this style tent and therefore the propane is the appropriate way to do it. The side windows will easily vent out the propane during night.
The rearview is actually the same as the front view. The roof height is 6'5". Our staking is done with bungee cords instead of webbing and allows it to hold up better against high winds. It's better than any other tent available in the market.
Yes absolutely! Our family explorer tent is waterproof and will withstand much more than 5 months. We don’t sell fly sheets with this model but if you are planning to set up the tent for an extended period, fly sheet is a good option to consider.
Yes, you can run the cord in through the back or front door.
It comes with large 72 x 78 inch awning
There is no vestibule attachment available at the moment.
Canvas Tarpaulins FAQs
Cut Size refers to the size of a tarp before sewing of seams and hems. For example, a 6' x 8' Cut Size tarp, the material will start at 6' x 8' and finished size would be 3-5% smaller than the cut size. It is an industry standard term which indicates the size of the tarp before it’s seamed, hemmed and eyeleted. Please note that all cut sizes will be 3 - 5% smaller than dimensions stated. We have mentioned the finished sizes which are the exact dimensions.
Cut Size refers to the size of a tarp after sewing of seams and hems is completed. If the Finished Size is specified when ordering, the extra fabric that is necessary to create hems and seams has already been accounted for and the actual end product will exactly be the stated size.
Many tarpaulin items are offered based on tarp weight in the market. Since there is a significant difference in weight per size, we only offer our products based on fabric weight. The weight difference is caused by the seam, hem, inserted rope, eyelets, leaflet and polybag. The smaller the size the bigger the difference between fabric and tarp weight.
It is the width of the hem and the width of the seam (or welding). Cut size is the gross size before fabrication whereas, finished size is the net size after fabrication. The cut size is bigger and the finished size is smaller.
Mostly, you just need to measure the length x width of the area to be covered. However, if you want to cover a 3 dimensional object, measure the length and width of the top of the object you need to cover along with how far

The mill is an increment/unit for measuring the thickness of tarps. The equivalent of one mill is 1000 of an inch. The thicker tarps have better quality.
It refers to the linear mass density of fibers – amount of mass per unit length of fibers is measured in the unit.
It is possible to make tarp sizes in inches, however, it is not ideal for canvas tarp or poly tarp due to their elastic nature. Canvas products are subject to shrinkage due to varying climate conditions with time (upto 3-5%), if you want fixed size tarp covers, consider looking at vinyl tarps.
There could be some pigment rub-off from the canvas during the initial stages of weatherization. Special care should be taken to keep the canvas from touching porous items.
We won’t advise you to use it indoors as the finish or dye color might rub off during initial use which might damage the furniture, floor or carpet. However, you may use untreated canvas for indoors.
It means that the whole tarp fabric is treated with chemicals to attain water, milder and mold resistance making the tarps water resistant. The chemical treatment adds to the weight of canvas fabric.
It depends on the quality of chemical treatment used. It is better to look for premium chemical finishes, heavier weight means more wax and poor quality chemical finish/treatment that adds to the weight of canvas tarp covers and won’t perform better. It is also important to look for the fabric weight and type to determine the quality of canvas tarp covers.
There are chemicals available in the market to retreat your tarp covers, Canvak and Losso are recommended by most industry experts.
